My first ever appearance on Macedonian TV...
In this TV Skopje documentary about Macedonians in Australia, at the 1:40 minute mark I'm the little boy in the blue top clinging to the fence and the woman in the pinafore dress next to me franticly waving is my mother. We're at Adelaide Airport seeing off my godparents who were on their way for their first visit to the “old country” since migrating to Australia a few years before.
What had happened is that there was a pilots strike grounding all domestic flights in Australia. Not wanting to squander their very expensive airline tickets, my godparents were able to hire a light plane on the spot to take them to Melbourne so they could catch their JAT flight to Yugoslavia.
I was very much an adult when I first found out by pure accident that this footage had even been taken, let alone shown on TV Skopje at the time.
