Today is my 25th Londoniversary!
Yes, it was a quarter of a century ago when I arrived in the UK full of excitment and tredpidation to start a new page in my life.
And what a time to arrive – a week after 9/11 in a world still in shock.
Never did I plan then that I'd still be in London 25 years later, nor did I expect to do all the things I ended up achieving.
🎡 The most common question I get asked about my life in London is...
Why am I here?
Well, I usually first respond by saying it's not because of the weather ☔︎︎
I understand why people, whether they're Brits, Aussies or others, would ask this. They're all wondering why would someone like me, an Australian, not be enjoying the high standard of living and sunny weather my birthplace has to offer.
The primary reason is that London offered opportunities, both professional and social, that Australia simply couldn't provide – a language-based career, travel options, and chance encounters and experiences that could only happen in a major international city.
Thank you London for providing this for. Here's to many more years!
Pictures of me at Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, September 2001. Yes, I had hair then hehe
