The talk I gave at the British Library in London on how rich Balkan multilingualism can be, using my childhood experience as an example, is now available to watch!
This was at the the event Our Languages/s: Multilingualism in the Balkans, held at the British Library on 11 June this year, and hosted by PROLang of the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies at the prestigious University College London.
This event explored the Balkan diaspora’s linguistic landscape, focusing on how non-standardised and marginalised languages shape social difference and discrimination. By gathering leading academics, writers, and community organisers, the discussion centred on an anti-ethnonationalist ethos to challenge mainstream narratives.
