Australia goes to the polls tomorrow!
But guess what happens to be one of biggest related issues of the day?
That there is a way permitted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to draw male genitalia 🍆on ballot papers and have them count as valid. I kid you not! 😦
In every pre-election period, the AEC has to respond to the many queries whether wasting your time drawing a dong in the booth (see below what they look like below – all glamour in foldable cardboard!) with that blunt pencil they have tied to a string, is allowed.
Apparently, so long as it does not obscure the numbers (Australia has a preferential voting system, where you number the candidates from 1 to how many candidates there are), your ballot will count. Good to know! 👍🏽
In any case, vote counters in Australia have said that they've seen it all before, so if you're dead set on doodling a doodle, you're hardly going to raise any eyebrows😩.
